"Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point.” - C. S. Lewis
In 2015, Soon after I was hired on to the staff of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), I was given the task of creating the new identity for the organization. Freshly out of school, it was an intimidating assigment, however I embraced the challenge. The initiative that had been in the works for a few years before I arrived was called Building Courageous Leaders.
In the wake of much scrutiny of the greek system as a whole, Phi Gamma Delta knew they needed to further promote their values as an organization. The BCL initiative has a mission to educate their members to recognize testing points in difficult situations; and at that testing point, will know how to confront and lead others in an ethical, productive way.
The mark is composed of the FIJI diamond, one of the primary symbols of Phi Gamma Delta. This diamond and star is used throughout Phi Gam history and other than the original coat of arms, was the most popular Phi Gam mark. Behind the diamond, white wings extend onto a shield. The mascot of Phi Gamma Delta is a snowy owl, the outstretched wings on the shield embody the courage it takes to act on a challenging testing point. The final symbol is the shield that represents the fraternities fidelity to their values
As the Coordinator of Communications it was my responsibility to oversee the creation of original social media content and curation of the Phi Gamma Delta social media presence. On special occasions such as holidays and founders day, the logo could be used with substitute images for added effect.
